"The hotel is definitely dated. You don’t notice it as much when you first walk in, but once you get to the hallways where the rooms are, you certainly do — including a bit of that “old church” smell. That said, everything was very clean and comfortable.
The location is fantastic — right on the harbour and within easy walking distance of almost everything. There is currently construction directly outside, but it didn’t bother us and we couldn’t hear it from inside.
Breakfast was fine and the dining room was lovely. My favourite part was that after breakfast it was essentially empty for the rest of the day. They played classical piano music, and I spent quite a bit of time working there. It was quiet, peaceful and fabulous.
We booked two rooms. Both were dated, although the two-queen room was considerably more dated than the loft suite. The loft had a harbour view, a comfortable couch for sitting and chatting, and a well-stocked kitchenette. We didn’t cook, but it was great for simple things like making popcorn.
The loft layout takes some getting used to, with the bed upstairs and bathroom downstairs, and the TV placement isn’t particularly practical. Still, the space worked well for us.
If you’re looking for modern, this isn’t it, but it’s clean, comfortable and incredibly well located."
