Westport is a small town next to Lake Champlain with picturesque views of the seemingly endless Green Mountains of Vermont. It is an enjoyable stopping point on the route to the Adirondack Mountains and lies inside the park of the same name. Westport is in Essex County in northeastern New York State. It is about 100 miles (160 kilometres) south of Montreal in Canada. Take the Amtrak rail system to the town from New York City in 6 hours. You can also take a bus from Lake Placid, about 35 miles (56 kilometres) away.
