Not far from Phuket Town is the stunning Wat Chalong. We’ve visited a lot of wats in South East Asia, and this one certainly had its own unique flare.

The Grand Pagoda dominates the temple grounds–it’s cool and breezy location makes it just as popular as the splinter of Buddha’s bone that rests inside. The pagoda walls depict Buddha’s life story and immense golden statues of the various Buddha poses sit in the main hall. Choose the one you wish to worship to most.

Pay attention to the fire crackers going off inside the brick oven out the front of the ordination hall. Thai people set them off to celebrate if they receive any good luck.

"The resort is located across the beach and has all the amenities one can think of. The staff are friendly barring one or two buggy drivers who are burnt out driving around. Tony from Cafe Studio was brilliant!! They seem under staffed with the breakfast volume and one chef apparently so food takes a while at times to get to the table. Anan at reception was very courteous and I wish I took all the other names but they were all brilliant! The security staff manning the residences were very helpful and the pool staff too. I cannot fault the service in any way. Clearly the HR and training department is doing a good job with getting the right staff. The only glitch is that the hotel is not wheelchair friendly. Many steps to climb and we had to carry the wheelchair up. If your audience is not the disabled, then you have to mention it on booking platforms. My shoulders are in pain carrying the wheelchair up and down steps."

"I recently stayed at the brand-new Veranda Resort Phuket, and it was nothing short of incredible. The property is beautifully decorated in a modern mid-century style, giving it a fresh yet timeless feel. The rooms were spacious, comfortable, and very well equipped with everything you need for a relaxing stay. The on-site restaurant served excellent food, and every meal felt thoughtfully prepared. I also visited the spa, which was outstanding—another reminder of how committed the resort is to offering a premium experience. Whether you’re into yoga, hitting the gym, lounging by the pool, or simply enjoying the beach, this resort has it all. And truly, the cherry on top was the warm and genuine Thai hospitality. Every staff member made me feel welcome and well cared for throughout my stay. I highly recommend Veranda Resort Phuket if you’re looking for a relaxing getaway. It’s the perfect place to recharge.
