One of the elevators was broken. I was afraid the other one would break with us in it. The phones in the rooms were all broken. One lady told me her toilet seat was broken. The pool didn’t open until 12 noon - same with the sauna - so no morning work out. The pool was quite small and definitely not heated. The ceiling in the room was peeling. Breakfast was a bag of snacks. We were expecting a hot meal. And there was no lovely grassy patio/garden as shown in the pictures. Management told me there never was any. The bed was good and the TV but that is about it. Oh and the hot water was good and hot after running it for about 20 minutes to get it hot although the pressure was low. The hot tub in the room had jets only on the sides so you had to sit sideways to get jets on your back. It was a large hot tub but very slippery on the bottom and one could possibly slip under the water. I wouldn’t want one of those. So sorry but not too much good to say here. The maids were the only good thing as they cleaned quite well and the management tried despite what they had to work with. It was not there fault. We will never stay there again. Oh - they did have yogurt for us to get for breakfast. That was a good thing.

We are very sorry that you were not satisfied with your stay. We offer fruit (apple or banana) yogurt , bagel bacon egg and cheese biscuit along with other things in the breakfast bag. We do not advertise a full hot breakfast. We are very sorry you were under the impression that the gym open at 12 the opening time for the gym and sauna is 6 am. We are continuous in our efforts to improve our hotel. We are very sorry again.

When i arrived, no one was at the front desk and waited for 15 mins having to call a number that was on a sign at the front desk. the room was clean, but the refrigerator was broken with a towel in it soaking up condensation from the freezer. The AC unit was SUPER loud and had to sleep with it off. I would not recommend to others.

The property itself has a few issues however every business has a few issues what made the difference was the very friendly and positive employees who work here. From the day shift to the night shift they were very pleasant always had a smile and were always willing to help. I mean they had an Otis spunmyer (sp) muffin, on top of the name brand items were included. For the price that I paid I am exceptionally happy

We are very sorry that we did not have early check in available for you. Our regular check in time is listed as 4pm. The booking company should have sent that to you on your confirmation. We do sometimes have early check in available but are not required to start checking people in early especially if we have a lot of rooms that need to be cleaned.

Door was broken, holes in wall, even if you dont want a smoking room, they all smell like smoke. No smoke detector, literally ripped off the wall. Tv was broken and no remote

First and last time staying at a HOJO!
On our arrival we noticed the hotel appeared very run down. We found out the free breakfast was a bagged piece of fruit and a granola bar. The Resturant had been closed for a while. We stayed in room 329. Once entering the room I noticed the entrance light inside the room was not working and missing a light bulb and really filthy. Makes you somewhat nervous entering a dark hotel room. There were water stains on the ceiling in the hallway entrance of the room next to the bathroom and above the hot tub in our room. THERE WAS NO SMOKE DETECTOR! It had been removed and not replaced. The ventilation fan in the bathroom did not work. The toilet rocked back and forth. The indoor pool was closed they said due to a heater malfunction. It looked abandoned for years. That would have been nice to know as this was one of the reasons I chose to come here on our 27th anniversary trip. The hot tub jets only halfway worked on one side of the tub. This was my first and last time staying at a HOJO. This hotel is total false advertisement and doesn't even need to be advertised on Hotels.com!
Nasty light fixture had no bulb. Made me nervous entering a dark room! Not good or safe.
NO SMOKE DETECTOR!
Notice the huge water stain and the filthy light fixture that did not have a bulb in it. The tub is just on the other side of that wall so now you know where the stain came from, upstairs 4th floor tub.
Better view of the hot tub. One of the main reasons why we chose to stay here on our 27th anniversary.

We advertise a grab and go breakfast which contains a juice or water a muffin a cookie an apple a granola bar a bacon egg and cheese jimmy dean biscuit and a yogurt. We are very sorry and will look into any complaints that you may have put in at the front desk and see why the situation was not rectified,

I was put in a smoking room by accident and the entire hall smelled of pot, i went to call down to tell them and the phone didn t work, i went back to the elevator to go back down and the elevator didn t work, had to walk down 4 flights of stairs. I m only staying tomorrow because i m already here..new floor and room is better

The room was great and good! Nice bed, sofa in room jacuzzi tv, refrigerator microwave. Didn’t like no phone wasn’t working the construction going on and bag breakfast was a problem it’s not strong covid19 anymore

We are very sorry about the construction we have been trying to take care of it in our off season. The bagged breakfast is not a covid thing. We follow Wyndhams regulations and they say we no longer do full breakfast. We do hope to have it back in the future.

Was there for a weekend getaway. Had a great stay all the staff were friendly and very helpful. If you are staying there while Houston is on duty, he is very nice and accommodating. I asked for a room on the first floor due to my disability but that didn’t happen. Woke up on Christmas morning and the elevator was out of order, meaning that I had to walk down the stairs. Other than that, the stay was fine.

We are very sorry for that. We are an older hotel and when we are not very busy the water takes a little longer to warm up. Usually about 10 minutes so we will check into that and try to fix what happened.

The 1st room we were given was occupied on the 6th floor. Then we were given a smoking room on the 7th. I didn’t even know that smoking rooms still existed. Although breakfast was bagged it was decent amount.

Would stay again, great location.
Just passing thru on our way to another destination my small family needed a safe, clean and inexpensive loging. We were satisfied. Also this is co-located with with a mcdonalds and a harris teeter grocery store steps away. Close to Williamsburg, W&M, and Busch Gardens. Rooms are nice, maybe a little old fashioned but I enjoyed the decor.

Dont recommend staying
First room we got had a nasty stain on the sheets, hot tub was dirty, an falling apart. Second room we got wasn't terrible until the sealing was leaking, we were on the first floor and had a sealing leak... not a small leak either. We found a paper a house keep had left, stated that room had a sealing leaking... and boy were they right. I wouldnt not recommend staying here. I know i wont be staying at another Howard Johnson again

We have stayed here twice on our trips to Busch Gardens. The first stay was 2 nights and this one was a single night. Both great experiences. The rooms were as described clean. The service was great as well.
