"Our flight suddenly got cancelled and we needed another night in New York. We wanted a property that offered a free shuttle to JFK for a decent price on short notice. Thanks to a special offer via hotels.com, we snagged a room at the DoubleTree JFK. Check-in was quick. Desk person was able to get us into a room prior to regular check-in time, which we greatly appreciated after a stressful day rearranging travel and getting accommodations. Polite and informative, the desk person was able to answer our questions and add our HH account number to the reservation so we could access our room via the Hilton app. Room was spacious and clean. It included a microwave and refrigerator plus complementary bottles of water. Furniture and walls did not have excessive wear and tear. Lots of ports for charging! Downsides to this property include proximity to a busy and noisy beltway, lack of restaurant choices (residential area and a bunch of hotels), sketchy surrounding neighborhood, and windows that do not keep outside noise muffled. (There was a truck blasting music most of the evening and thankfully, they stopped before we went to bed.) Location is not suitable for sightseeing and is definitely more for a pre-flight stay. No close access to subways, a bus connection is needed. LOVE the FREE, fresh baked cookies! YUM! Did not feel guilty asking for another. :) Morning shuttle was busy but we fit and made it to JFK on-time. Would stay again if we got stuck in a similar situation!"
