The history of the castle and surrounding land is fascinating and steeped in lore, and we enjoyed learning more about this this very special part of the heart of Ireland."

"I was here with my kids. They had a great time. It’s a great family hotel. It was very busy. The food was good, I would avoid the nachos. Service was very friendly but sometimes a little scattered. Particularly at breakfast in the morning"

"The rooms and the hallways have all new flooring and new clothing cupboards. Bed and bedding were comfortable, with a hair dryer available upon request. The kitchen are is fantastic and fully equipped with two stoves, 5 fridges, microwave toaster etc. The front staff were friendly and responsive. I arrived quite early to drop my luggage however they were able to get me into my room, which was fantastic. I would stay here again without question. Location was excellent as well. My only recommendation would be for a larger sign to be placed on the building. Very small sign near the door and it directs you to the back. It directs for you to call them, however I had my primary number turned off to avoid high fees, however I emailed them and she was at the door within 5 minutes! Well worth the stay and I would go back."

"The Malt Store surpassed our expectations, the apartment was huge, absolutely spotless and extremely comfortable. Birr is a nice little town and we were very close to all amenities. The staff were very prompt and friendly in answering any correspondence regarding our stay. I would thoroughly recommend The Malt Store as accommodation if visiting this part of Ireland. First class."

"Rooms were clean, beds comfortable and cleaned each day. Staff were friendly, polite and helpful. The bar was modern and staff were pleasant, the food was excellent. We stayed in August and thought as the hotel was busy there would be some nightly entertainment but there wasn't. The pool and it's facilities I couldn't fault. We will definitely return."
