"This older home was well maintained and comfy. It was close to the centre of Banbury and down the hill to Banbury Cross and the statue of the lady on the horse. Breakfast is included and there is a wide range of cold or hot meal options; there is a kettle in the room with tea bag’s and coffee packs with sugar and UHT milk made it easy to have a hot drink in your room early morning or in the evening. "Lovely tearoom with delicious food. The room was quaint & comfortable. Shower was a little tight but water was hot & plentiful. Would certainly recommend."

"For the price it was good value. The electric ceiling fan was reasonable at keeping it bearable on hot night. If you are sensitive to noise ask to be at the back of the guest house."

"One word - avoid. What ypu see in the description and in reviews is NOT what you get. The room was facing the main road and the constant, non-stop noise was unbearable. The breakfast was horrible. £12.50 extra for 1x burnt bacon, uncooked hash brown and a pathetic looking uncooked sausage. Plus a fried egg complete with a hair. The 'chef' needs sone training on how to actually cook food properly. Poor quality, cheap orange juice and bread that hadnt been fresh for a few days. The staff were...

"On arriving the property was very difficult to find and when l did find it my room was occupied by someone else. I was given the room next-door which was dark and unwelcoming. Neither the room or the surroundings were as advertised, photos were totally misleading. I was absolutely discussed by the level of cleanliness and left immediately finding myself having to find somewhere else to stay at 8.30 in the evening and £364 out of pocket. Will not be using Expedia ever again!!"

"Stayed here during the heatwave in a twin room. Fan was provided which was very much needed. We dropped our bags earlier in the daytime and were met by the host. She was very welcoming and friendly. We were given our key so we didn’t have to return later to check in. We also left our luggage there until time to go home which was much appreciated. Very decent shower and comfy beds. Excellent host"

"I enjoy a hotel that makes you feel like the location… not some generic place that looks the same in every location. The Porterhouse was great in that regard, made me feel like I was in Oxford. Clean and comfy room and great location. Staff was great and helpful in every way! Breakfast was nice. I would definitely stay again!"
