As an African American Jewish traveler of Yoruba descent returning home, I need real space to breathe. If you’re in Ghana searching for a permanent spot, one of those places that requires 3–6 months' rent upfront, that process takes time. Until then, American Mall is a great landing place, especially if you spend a lot of time inside working. Having an entire apartment makes a huge difference when you're a globe-trotter on your second passport.
Privacy & Safety: Since this apartment is situated on top of businesses, privacy is key. I highly recommend requesting the top floor and ensuring you have the hallway screens outside your door. It helps you feel secure and provides the privacy you need in a busy area. Management is cool, but they need to tighten staff boundaries. No one, including the laundry team, should be walking on the roof or near guest windows. It’s weird and can make you feel watched, but the top floor/screens help with outside the apartment.
The Essentials: WiFi is strong, we ran a PS5 and Apple devices with zero lag. It’s a busy business center, so it’s not "soundproof," but it is quiet at night. Safety-wise, don’t believe the hype. I’ve walked the streets late at night with my yamaka and elekes on; nobody bothered me. It’s congested, but safe.
The Practicalities: There’s no printer on-site, but the staff can point you to local print shops. Also, be ready for checkout. this isn’t America. They count every spoon, fork, and cable outlet before you leave.
