"I recently stayed at Decameron El Salvador and overall I would describe the experience as just okay. There were definitely some positives, but also several things that would make me think twice before returning.
The biggest disappointment was the food. While there was a decent variety, the quality was pretty poor overall and many dinners left us still hungry afterward. The reservation system for specialty restaurants was also very strange — almost like a Hunger Games situation. Reservations opened at 7:00 AM and if you were not there immediately, you were out of luck for the day.
The rooms were dated and could use renovations, but they were at least kept clean during our stay. The real highlight of the resort is definitely the pools and the beach/ocean area. Both were beautiful and easily the main selling point of the property.
The staff experience was mixed. Some employees were incredibly kind and helpful, while others came across as rude and uninterested, so service really depended on who you interacted with.
Overall, the resort was not terrible, but it did not fully meet expectations either. Between the food, confusing reservation system, and inconsistent service, I would probably choose to stay somewhere else next time."
