"Old hotel, badly maintained with smelly rooms. The water coming out the bathroom tap had a horrible sewage smell, so my family and I used mineral water to brush the teeth and to wash the face. There were two lifts but only one working during the whole weekend, and the guests had to share it with the staff transporting food or cleaning supplies. It was a mess. I will not return to this hotel."

"My friend and I enjoyed a mini break for her 50th. We immediately got upgraded upon arrival. The rooms were fresh, spacious and comfortable. This hotel is situated in the heart of Brighton making eating out a pleasant experience - we were a few minutes walk from the lanes, packed with restaurants. I would highly recommend this hotel."

"Staff were lovely, as was breakfast and the bar. But the rooms and decor are the key feature of this hotel and certainly make it unforgettable. Our room and bathroom were not huge but more than adequate and comfortable. The theming of the rooms, corridors, stairways and bar area is amazing, thoughtful, creative and makes this hotel worth a stay for sure, as does the cheeky nature and sense of humour. "Stayed here over the bank holiday as a family of 4. The hotel itself is nice and the outside space is green and relaxing. However, we were given a very hot top-floor room during 28°C weather, with no air conditioning and windows that barely opened. The fan provided did not help and none of us could sleep.
