Perfect location along the canal. An historically old house with all old world charm that comes with it. The hosts were detailed in so many areas of our stay. The common area coffee and treats. Same in the room. Just lovely.

It in center, walkable, grocery shopping next door, building is 15 century, so we had room upper floor, you can hear pigeons and church bells. It really gives you unique vibe. Daily cleaning and refreshments was so appreciated, oh yes coffee in room was amazing ( from coffee maker). Bed is super comfy. Beware of steep and narrow staircases, only for healthy individuals. Thx you so much for hosting us on our amazing trip!

The location is perfect and the room is in an amazing early 17th century Amsterdam canal house. I had the room at the top, which was quite large for a room in Amsterdam and included a little dining area with a table and chairs that came in handy for writing in my journal. The bed was large and comfortable. The bathroom is small, but this is expected, as was the narrow spiral staircase leading to the room. You are in a real Amsterdam canal house! It’s quite charming. David was an amazing host and left all kinds of treats and fruit in the food bowl and drinks in the refrigerator. He gave me a great summary of the city with a map when I first arrived. Heidi, the house cat, graces the property with her presence. I was honored she deemed me worthy of giving her a few pets. When I come back to Amsterdam, I will look to stay here again.

The location of the property is great close to everything. The building is a typical Dutch canal house complete with all it’s charms and quirks. The real difference is the host David who is a real pleasure and very kind. Also, unlike just about any other room I’ve stayed in, he makes a point to replenish anything in the room that has been used each day, from a coffee pod to waffles to fresh fruit. It was truly a delight.

Loved it here. The room had everything we needed and then some. So near the city centre hairdryer, straighteners, shower gel, microwave, fridge and even a magical replenishment fairy. My only drawback was the steep spiral staircase which is not for the faint hearted especially if uve been out for a drink or 2 apart from that is was a lovely B&B

The owner David and staff Mary went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and looked after. They have thought of everything, the rooms were complete with everything from spare razors, toothbrushes, travel adaptors and paracetamol. Beds are super comfy. Netflix on TV with their own account so no can just fire it up and relax. Complimentary snacks and drinks are topped up daily which was awesome. Im forgetting many things I'm sure but the bottom line is I've never seen such attention to detail and care in a BnB before. Thanks David and thanks Mary. We will be back.

David and his college could not do enough for us during our stay. The room was comfortable along with after snack and beer! Perfect for the centre of Amsterdam and the cats are lovely too. Would recommend.

Stand in a Dutch home was a wonderful experience. If you are an overweight American walking up the stairs with your luggage is going to be a major struggle if you stay at this place, make sure you bring small bags for luggage and again if you are afraid of heights or you are a large person, I would not recommend it

We had such an amazing stay at Tulip of Amsterdam! Chris and David were wonderfully kind and welcoming hosts! The hotel is perfectly located to where we could walk to everything we had planned. The Tulip was so quiet and peaceful, allowing us to sleep soundly. Our room was the top room and it was a perfect room! We loved having a table and chairs to sit and chat and enjoy the fruit and drinks provided to us. All the windows kept the room light and gave it a lovely, airy feel. The windows had awesome room darkening shades too! We wish we could’ve stayed longer at Tulip! We highly recommend staying at Tulip!

Perfect Stay

Our stay at the Tulip could not have been better! The location was convenient to EVERYTHING! David was the perfect host. The room was great. Service every day and replenished free water, snacks, fruit, etc…We love staying at BnB’s that are reflective of the area and culture. This is an original old Amsterdam home on a canal and just what we were looking for. The stairs in the old homes are narrow and David carried our luggage for us. We’re no spring chickens so this was essential. Recommendations for restaurants, stores, and services was extremely helpful. Book this…you’ll be glad you did!

This property was centrally located so that everything in Amsterdam was a short walk away. The host David was so welcoming! The stairs getting to the rooms are no joke, but I knew that going in. Some reviewers have complained about them but Davids's property description is straightforward and indicates the property is not handicap accessible so do your homework and don't underestimate it. Our stay was wonderful, and we would absolutely book here again.

Tulip of Amsterdam I know these reviews are meant to be short, but I need to take some time here. First, if I could give Tulip of Amsterdam 15 stars, I would. David and Jeremy made everything perfect—and that’s not an exaggeration! Responsive to the few questions we had (they made sure most everything was in place), the two obviously take pride in what they do. This was our first time in Amsterdam and we didn’t want a ‘regular’ hotel room. Some travelers may think the two (yes, there are only two) rooms are kind of ‘kitschy’ but we wanted something that reflected the area we traveled—not what we could find near home. The room was comfortable and cozy. We were very appreciative of the amenities and that we were invited to use the full kitchen/common area. The room we were in was at the top of the stairs (don’t be intimidated! but plan to not rush up or down them). It was toward the back of the building and that was wonderful because we had no street/canal noise. We would open a small window and hear the chiming of the church bells on the hour. The location is also a plus. Once we got our bearings, we were a 10-minute walk to Centraal Station, close to metro/tram lines (handy for the Rijksmuseum) and restaurants/markets everywhere! If you are planning a ‘first trip’ to Amsterdam, staying at the Tulip of Amsterdam is a must! I know we would look to staying here on our ‘next’ trip…if we are so lucky!
