The accommodation was good: easy check in/check out, comfortable room and very clean.
However, there was a severe problem with the restaurant. I had pre-booked for dinner and advised that my husband was coeliac with a strong allergy to gluten. On ordering, the tablet was duly produced showing suitable dishes but no account had been taken of cooking methods. On questioning these we discovered there was no dedicated deep fat fryer, thus obviating any such dishes listed as GF options - a fact not taken into consideration. Cross contamination is as equally important as gluten-containing ingredients. The manager then owned up to the fact the tablet was wrong and they were trying to have it corrected, which is simply not acceptable. Staff training is urgently required before you have a serious health issue. It was fortunate we had asked, as my husband would have been extremely ill.
This obviously put a damper on our stay which was a birthday treat. We didn't risk breakfast.
We are not seeking recompense, nor would we risk another stay, but wish to advise you of the serious issue for the safety of other guests with food allergens. As this hotel is part of a group, this omission is clearly a corporate issue.
