This trip's purpose? To treat my wife to a wonderful few days of swimming in a nice pool. After check in, I said "Now lets hit that pool!" All was shattered when the desk clerk said, "Oh sir, the pool is closed!" WHAT??? No mention of this by Hotels.com or in the hotel's "welcoming letter"; not a single word. This was not the visit we hoped for when booking. To add insult, when we expressed our total displeasure to management not a single comp, discount, or action was offered to compensate us for the complete lack of service. Would have booked another property if we were notified of the pool being closed. Still, flamed over this. Anyway, the property is very nice, clean and well maintained. Hotel staff, except for management, was extremely nice, helpful and considerate. A major "thumbs up" to the ladies in the restaurant, the doormen and the front office clerks - GREAT JOB!! More bad news though. The Internet worked great on Friday, then died all day Saturday and Sunday. Very poor TV reception with static covering the screen since it is not cable. Saturday evening and at 6:00 am Sunday we could hear easily hear the noisy family in the room next door; quite annoying. Also, at check-in we were asked to pay 500 pesos for use of the A/C. After a tense moment, they finally agreed we had pre-paid for A/C. Saturday breakfast we were also told to pay 350 pesos each until I proved it was pre-paid. Overall, not a pleasant experience.
