Coylumbridge Resort Hotel

"The site is ideal for families with younger children. We were nervous after reviews, but were pleasantly surprised. We checked in online before hand, so it meant we were able to use the dedicated 'online check-in' line at the front desk (I could see that others were having a longer wait, especially when groups came in by coach) Our interactions with staff were universally positive, with service staff in the main hotel area very friendly and helpful. The Activity Centre area staff were also friendly. The pool area and changing rooms were clean and tidy. We really liked that there were two separate pools, as the shallower/warmer pool was ideal for our less-confident swimmers. The pool slide was out of service, so we hope to try it on a future visit. Food was ok, but there weren't a huge number of vegan/vegetarian options, which was tricky for our family. It was disappointing that there were no vegetarian kids items at the kids activity zone cafe, but we were told that they are getting a new menu in the coming weeks, so that may change! If you are unable to easily carry your own bags up stairs, please keep in mind when booking that there are no lifts to the upper floors. You should ask for a lower floor, or confirm with the hotel about what assistance might be available. My husband ended up helping a group of older persons with large suitcases up the stairs to their floor, as they were well enough to walk up the stairs but not strong enough to carry their cases."

"Absolutely amazing and stunning accommodation. Everything here is perfect, from the interior to the hot tub, to the glorious views. When we walked in for a 3 night stay, we immediately booked a further night We will deffo be booking up for a full week next year Thankyou for such a wonderful stay"

"Host was very friendly. I'm not a whisky drinker but the room had a few free drams for you. With proper whisky tasting glasses. Dont really know anywhere that does that. Room was lovely and large. Lovely breakfast. Would defo stay there again"

"We stayed in one of the offsite casa style rooms which was perfect for our family (we were parents travelling with two teenagers). Room was clean and had all we needed for our two night stay. We appreciated the afternoon scones and tea in the main hotel. We were surprised that our rooms didn’t have any housekeeping between our first and second nights so I’m not sure if that was part of the casa room service or not but our request for addition towels was taken care of quickly!"

"Excellent stay, been here a couple of times now. Food is great - breakfast gives plenty of options for all tastes (full Scottish to granola and fruit). Lunch and dinner and good pub style offerings. Rooms are generally a good size and nicely decorated. Some rooms can be a bit noisy depending on where you are in the property. Rooms downstairs at the front of the boat house ( the building on the other side of the car park to the main building/pub/restaurant) are quieter whereas rooms at the back and upstairs you can hear guests in other rooms."

"A lovely hotel with delicious food and a beautiful, peaceful setting. You should stay here. We stayed in a little stone cottage separate from the hotel an easy 5-minute walk up the hill. It used to be the dog kennels. In fact, the low stone walls topped with iron fencing that served as the two outside pens of the kennel are still there, as are the doggie doors -- tho’ these are firmly closed. A pair of French doors open onto a very large walled garden, which we had to ourselves. It's the middle of being replanted. Most of it is mown grass. It was a peaceful place to stroll and watch the birds. The cottage itself is very cozy. The decor is homey, though a little worn. The bed is very comfortable. The shower and sink have been modernized and the wall tiled. However, the toilet is a large Victorian affair that's showing its age and has no lid. It was the only aspect of the cottage I didn’t care for. However, given the rest of the bathroom remodel, I expect they’re planning on replacing it. The heater and towel warmers were lovey. There are so many plusses: The hotel is very near the lovely town of Ballater, Balmoral Castle, and woodland trails. Paths behind the hotel weave through a wood of native pines and gorgeous azaleas and rhododendrons. The staff is friendly and helpful. We ate dinner there one night and the food was delicious -- expertly prepared and very fresh. The terrace in front of the hotel looks out over the garden and the woods beyond."
