"The place was very convenient. My family and I kept the main door open for about 15 minutes to let fresh air into the house, since there are no windows. There is a ventilation system, but the house carries a particular scent, perhaps typical of this type of construction. The location is very safe. "This is a lovely boutique hotel that is newly renovated to take advantage of the unique caves in Matera. There is a beautiful view over the gorge. We spent 3 nights here and the lovely owner spent time with us each day curating a perfect itinerary for seeing Matera. There was free parking nearby. The room was spacious and comfortable, and breakfast was good. It’s about a 10 min walk into the main part of town, but it’s nice to be on the edge with the view and it’s super quiet. "
