"I had a wonderful stay at the DoubleTree Berkeley, and what made it especially meaningful was how kind and supportive the staff were during a very emotional time for me. I was in Berkeley to leave my daughter at college, and understandably, I was having a lot of emotions. The staff were incredibly nice and genuinely supportive, which meant more to me than they probably realized. I also really enjoyed breakfast at the Boathouse restaurant. The outdoor area by the marina was one of my favorite parts of the hotel. Sitting outside in the comfortable chairs around the fire pit, enjoying the view and taking in the peaceful atmosphere, was the perfect way to relax. The pool and hot tub were also great and gave me another opportunity to unwind after a busy and emotional few days. Overall, this hotel felt welcoming, comfortable, and relaxing. The beautiful marina setting, great amenities, delicious breakfast, and especially the caring staff made my stay a memorable one. I would definitely stay here again when visiting Berkeley."

"The room looked clean when I arrived, however it smelled very moldy throughout my stay. The staff was very nice and helpful. Too bad no laundry facilities provided. Parking was great, lot of shady spots."

"We enjoyed staying at the University Inn & Suites. Our room was clean and the beds were comfortable. The bathroom was good to have a good hot shower. The reception at the desk was helpful and breakfast was good to make your own waffles. Liked the inn had complementary coffee and water available near the reception office. The inn also has a swimming pool. There were many excellent restaurants in walking distance. Also the the AC 51B bus stop was two blocks away to go to the university or to the Berkeley BART station."

"As long as one has reasonable expectations I feel it's a fine place to stay. Not super luxurious, but clean and pleasant. We needed a ground floor room (bum leg) and they provided us with one. The coffee / drink machine in the office was nice. The older lady in the office was particularly friendly. The guest washer / dryer was basic but did a decent job, not too expensive. The bike / walking path on the other side of the highway was a pleasant way to get to nearby places (natural grocery was handy). Minor details: There's a roof in front of the Check In area (deck on top of it). It's pretty low, I'm guessing about 7' 6" (229cm)... Didn't see any sign (Google Street View looks like there might've been a sign in the past). If your rig is tall you can still get to the back side around the SE side of the building. The front planters have roses in them (pretty) that have chewed up the window screens with their thorns. Wasn't buggy when we were there but might matter on occasion. Parking was ok, we got one in front of our room. I'd stay there again."

"Great hotel in a fab location, staff were wonderful and Uber helpful. Lil bit shabby around the edges, more attention to the outer areas would solve that. Overall wonderful 2 nights there."
