We were quite disappointed upon our arrival at SO Sofitel Bel Ombre. Although the official check-in time was 15:00, we were made to wait until 16:00 before being given access to our room. Bagage arrived after 17 15 and left with no battery as charger is in our luggage.
To our dismay, when we finally entered the room, we discovered stained bed sheets and hair on the bed,an unacceptable level of cleanliness for a hotel of this calibre supposedly to be a 5 star hotel. The situation was further compounded by the fact that we had no internet connection and were forced to make multiple attempts to reach reception by phone. When someone eventually did answer, the staff member was dismissive and rude,a shocking first impression that set a negative tone for our stay.
To add to our frustration, we found the minibar completely empty. Not even basic soft drinks were provided, despite our willingness to pay for them. This lack of attention to basic guest needs is truly surprising for a hotel under the Sofitel brand.
We had expected a much higher standard in terms of cleanliness, efficiency, and hospitality. I sincerely hope serious steps will be taken to address these issues, both in service delivery and housekeeping standards. It’s unfortunate that such a poor experience upon arrival now risks being shared more widely, especially as we had chosen your hotel with high expectations.
