Avoid Hotels.com at all costs
Booked the hotel in November, it closed down in December yet I still had a ‘confirmation of your booking’ email from Hotels.com last week. So thank you for nothing!

Check in was hard due to know one being around 3 hour wait then nice lady checked me in. no one was around during the day to talk to had one daybwith no hot water at all with a 4 year old child. stayed here before and liked it but this time has put me off going back. the reception/pub was closed

We had a seaview which was excellent, however the blind was broken so once we pulled it down it would go back up. Bathroom was lovely, great shower. Bed was a bit soft but ok for 1 night. Room had hairdryer which broke with in a minute but hotel provided another asap. Price was good. Car Park was close by & reasonable priced. Would stay again. Thankyou

Disappointing
On arrival (two elderly ladies) were told the room was on the 3rd floor. There is no lift. No one was available to take the cases to the room. On climbing the stairs and getting to the room (without cases), found it was a double bed. not too much of an issue. Hotel is not fit for purpose. Unable to stay. Cannot carry cases up the stairs and certainly cannot come down with cases. Distgusted no one would help

I liked the easy access to the beach and train station and shops and restaurants. But it is an old building with lots of stairs and almost nonexistant staff to help out.

Not somewhere I’d book again
We turned up at 6pm checked in was shown the entrance to the hotel and was told the code to get in, then the bar person told us it was up the stairs and he went back to work, we went up to the top floor went into our room which was a sofa bed in the little front room area, and a double bed in the bedroom. We went out to find food came back, opened the cupboard in the kitchen area it was full of food from the people before, we weren’t told anything about where to find the bedding for the sofa bed( which was abit dirty so didn’t really want to sleep on it) the little kitchen table was hanging off the wall you couldn’t put anything heavy on it. So it was now 8pm and we managed to find a local travel lodge to stay in instead. We went down and informed them we wouldn’t be staying( so if anything happened they wouldn’t be looking for us, husband used to work in a pub/ hotel so knew the rules) the bar person got the manager who was very sorry and said she would be having a word with the house keeping, and she gave a full refund.

Great not perfect.
Customer service was great. Room was nice and cozy with a beautiful ocean view. The only thing I had a complaint about was the ammonia smell in the room. I don't know if it was from the cleaning products or if someone pissed in the room but I had to keep the window open and every now and then spray some perfume or deodorant to give my nose a break.

Hell of a Hotel
Firstly the place was closed,smell on 4 flights of stairs to room,was like a sauna no air con or a fan,window opened but no safety for children,sockets didnt work,lamp didnt work,plug didnt fit in socket properly for the kettle,fire alarm went off,extractor fan didn't work in bathroom so the hole of the room filled with stream which set tge alarm off,the blind pulled down but no cord to pull it back up,bar wasn't doing food,no place to go to ask for milk coffee etc,place was all closed up with no one to contact to complain,we had booked for 2 nights but after all the carry on on the first night with no sleep we up and left and booked another hotel.yes its an old building but that does not excuse the state of the place for what they are charging.there was no one about for us to even inform them that we were leaving,slipped in bathroom and split my forehead on the sink aswell.just an absolute nightmare.dont even entertain the place.i definitely won't be going back again.i would of rather stayed in Faulty Towers Hotel

The hotel is less than 10 minutes from the train station. The rooms were clean and the manager was friendly and helpful. We had an issue with the toilet not working and Denise came up to sort it out quickly. She made us feel comfortable. The room had a good view, large TV and tea, coffee and biscuits. the hotel is over a pub which offers food. The room were good and it was a clean room. We will go back.

Good for the fully fit.
The location was fabulous, opposite the sea front and close to amenities and the pier. The room was tidy and clean, with tea and coffee making facilities, but shabby and run down. The bed was very comfortable and we asked for extra pillows which arrived promptly. The bathroom was clean with plenty of hot water and nice white towels but very small and again rather the worse for wear. We didn't meet any staff other than at check in but he was nice enough. The very big downer was the 39 steep, cramped steps up to our room and then the 39 again down. This effectively stopped us using our room other than to wash and sleep in. The Carlton Hotel is a very old building with a lot of history of people holidaying in Bognor. Sadly it is like a very old person struggling on their last legs. However if you are fit and strong and want a sea view from your room go to the Carlton Hotel.

The best of The Carlton Hotel is called Holly ,we met her at the reception/ bar a big hearted, friendly young women who told us everything necessary. The room was small,the bed was very soft but the view was extraordinary.

All I can say it's perfect hotel for the stay.
It's a nice and small hotel. Right in front of the beach. Check in was very straight forward. We had sea view room, which was on top floor and very beautiful views. Service from the owner lady was excellent. Very friendly and mixing nature. Aventure bar on ground floor is nice place to chill up and relax. Overall our stay was perfectly njoeeeeable.

Pleasant stay
Very nice room with a sea view. Initially we got a room (9) which had a broken door lock, but we were moved to another room (15). Nice, and clean. The room had all we needed for a one night stay. The only minus for us was that the second room was twin not double. Easy check in and check out. No lift. Free parking after 6pm on the street outside the hotel

Lovely friendly hotel
Lovely friendly and helpful staff. Room and en suite was so clean, beds really comfortable and all with a sea view. Definitely value for money. Nice little cocktail bar a short distance away with 2-1 offers and great Italian food.

L’hotel è fronte spiaggia, al mattino il sole entra dalle finestre, e si sente il rumore del mare. La struttura è tipica inglese, con ripide rampe di scale e senza ascensore. La camera essenziale, il letto un po’ duro, ma è una valutazione personale. Il personale è super gentile!! Tanto parcheggio proprio di fronte.
