"First off, the rooms and facility were spotless, beds were comfy and furnished were great. Hotel staff and cleaning staff were so helpful! Called to say we were late checking out and they sent me a new access code immediately. There were some noise issues but keep in mind the appartment buildings are a block away from one of the funnest streets in town. There is also a preschool next door. If you are a morning person anyhow, zero issues. These are old buildings but upgraded all the way as far as comfort. Our unit had no real views other than skylights, but would stay there again."

"Instead of staying in Reykjavik for the first few nights of our 14-day ring road vacation, we decided to stay in Borgarnes for easier access to the national park and to ease the drive to our second stop, Akyreyri. The Vesturland is relatively new and seems to be well maintained. We had very little interaction with any of the hotel staff outside of at the registration desk, but they were very friendly and gave us some good tips on where to look for the aurora. We got lucky and managed to see the aurora on our first night in Iceland. There is plenty of parking. There is a Netto supermarket directly across the street from the hotel. It is not as cheap as Bonus, but it has a wider selection of products and a great bakery section. There are several restaurants within walking distance from the hotel. The gym and spa look good but we did not use either during our two night stay in Borgarnes."
