"The hotel was lovely with a welcoming atmosphere. The location was an ideal base for exploring the local attractions. Our room was clean, comfortable and quiet with very comfortable beds. Housekeeping was daily which was lovely. Food was very good with an excellent breakfast, spoilt for choice including options for those with allergies/intolerances. I have allergies to soya, cow’s dairy, egg and beef which is a real challenge for me, especially when eating out. The waiters and chef could not...

"Room was dirty, scuffed paintwork, stained carpet, skirting boards thick with grime and dust, cobwebs and dead bugs (in the cobwebs) on the ceiling. Not to mention the previous guests dirty towels and sheets were left in a heap in the middle of the floor. At £200 per night excluding breakfast I expect much much better. Very disappointing."

"This is a lovely establishment that is run rather incompetently. I was meant to check out today at 11, but I had an expected and rather important work call with a UN body and requested an hour late check out time. First of all, good establishments have all pushed their check out time to 12. Second, I have never in all my experience staying in similar establishments been denied an hour-late check out time. "We stayed up on the first floor. Lovely old building with creaky stairs. Rooms were well equipped and comfortable. Bit of an issue with the water pipes which were very noisy (sounded like air in pipes). Had fans in rooms which were needed. Great choices for a cooked breakfast, which was cooked to perfection. Staff were friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again."
