"Our overall stay here was acceptable, but it wasn't what we hoped it would be. To begin with, we had the worst welcome we've ever had at a hotel (Friday afternoon, male at the desk). No welcome, paper just handed to us to initial. When we went to our room, there were many people standing at the building entry door smoking (front desk is in a separate building) and the entry door wasn't latched (throughout the weekend it was only latched twice but WOULD lock when pulled tight). Our room was on the ground floor with the window next to the parking lot and the area where everyone was smoking. We returned to the desk to ask to have another room and the man at the desk said they were sold out but then after quite a bit of sighing, found us a room on the second floor across the hall but said it wasn't ready yet and to come back. We sat on the patio, where we could see torn screens on a few rooms and lots of clutter in the windows. It became apparent that many people are longterm residents (kids coming home with backpacks). Eventually our room was ready and the room was fine. Did have crying kids across the hall with really loud toys, but they quieted after bedtime. Breakfast was ok. On Sunday there was no meat, just eggs and biscuits/gravy. The weekend desk person was quite nice. We are new to the Sonesta family and hope this visit was a fluke as we are in the area several times a year to visit our son and would like to find a place we automatically book every time for our trips"
