"I stayed in room 15, it was horrible. Bathroom didnt have an external vents or a fan. Massive gap at the bottom of the door, very poorly maintained room."
"The general cleanliness and condition of this hotel was poor. The floor of the room was sloping and was quite dissorientating when walking into the bathroom. In the bathroom, the shower curtain was stained and looked unclean. The wastebin looked very poor with a rusted lid. Bathroom floor not very clean and the grouting was missing from the corners of the bath. The paint was peeling of the inside of the windowsill. In the room, the kettle was grubby and had to be washed before use, the glasses also had greasy prints on them and also had to be washed before use. The headboard was marked (small tears).
The towels and bed linen were clean and we had a comfortable nights sleep. Certainly not worth the money we paid, and as it is, we cannot recommend staying here.
On a plus, the staff were very polite and accommodating. "
"Had an absolutely wonderful stay at the Dragon Inn, the location was great and the room was comfortable and clean. Special shout out to the staff, especially Connor, who went above and beyond to help with a booking issue"
"Another incredible stay! The staff are always so welcoming and kind, George is just fantastic and so attentive and friendly. The food as usual is delicious, beautiful local produce. The rooms as usual are so clean and super comfy beds. The spa facilities are fantastic. Five stars again from us!! "
"Turned up to find our key out on a table, with our name and details where to find the room
Everyone else who was staying also had their keys laid out with names/room details. No-one available to speak to, in-person, at check-in. We were in the family room, at the back/outside of the property. Whole room smelt of grease due to the chip shop adjoining the hotel. To be fair, the hotel itselt smelt greasy. Toilets were filthy with broken seats, one of the shower trays filthy and not clean. The other shower tray had used bottles of body wash still in the shower and a pair of old socks left there, too. No hand soap, no tea/coffee sachets. Beds were hard, but may suit those who do not mind a hard matress. No matress topper used, though or protectors- just sheets- and could feel springs through matress.
Phoned the number left on a table at "arrival" and advised of issues in room
Offered another room, but explained booked family room to accommodate all persons travelling. Was told manager would be told of issues.
Come breakfast time, saw one member of staff who was pleasant enough. The layout for breakfast isn't amazing- but was enough to keep my children quiet.
We ended up going to Talgarth Mill for breakfast, in the cafe there- would recommend there, or The Strand Cafe for food.
For what we paid, was not expecting it to be posh. As a family, we are fairly laid back and not overly fussy. However, this was at the lower end of what we would normally go for/expect . "
"The hotel is in a perfect location for exploring Devil's Bridge and the surrounding area. We visited the Elan Valley dams and reservoirs, the Silver Mountain and Aberystwyth.
The Hotel looks stunning from the outside and inside. A lot of care has gone into every detail of the hotel.
Our room was on the top floor. It was very cool and quirky, just a little bit musty smelling. (We couldn't open the windows without a load of bugs flying in so had to keep them closed unfortunately.)
The bathroom looked cool but there was nowhere to put anything!
Our arrival wasn't the best. We had travelled a fair distance and arrived at 7, when staff were busy with dinner. We rang the bell a few times, we were ignored by staff rushing around with dinner and drinks orders. I asked someone at the bar for help, who said they would ask someone to come and see to us. We kept waiting and eventually I managed to stop someone who just gave us the key card and told us our room was on the top floor.
But then, the complete opposite service occurred on our second and third nights when one particular member of staff was really kind, friendly and helpful when we were looking to get a table for dinner. I forgot to get her name but she was amazing and really made our stay.
