"The premises and the setting are fantastic. However, I do not believe the overall value matches the price charged. During our stay, there was a blackout on the island. Unfortunately, the hotel’s water system relies entirely on electric pumps, which meant that the toilet, basin, and shower became unusable. As a result, we could not use the bathroom facilities at all for several hours. For a hotel of this caliber, I would have expected an emergency backup power system, but this was not available. Apparently, the island receives power from Java via an underwater cable. Fortunately, the outage lasted only a couple of hours, but the hotel itself was unable to provide any practical solution during that time. There were also several smaller issues that affected the experience:
The rooms do not include a kettle for tea or coffee arguing environmental reasons. Upon check-in, we were informed that outside food and drinks were not permitted. Additionally, the restaurant applies an 11% service charge plus a 10% tax, neither of which is included in the menu prices displayed. While I understand this is common practice in Bali, I still find it somewhat misleading, as the final bill is significantly higher than expected from the listed prices. Overall, while the property itself is beautiful, there are several operational and value-related aspects that could be improved to better align with the standard and pricing of the hotel."
