I booked on Expedia a room at the Bergson in Calistoga cause I am a Disabled Veteran waiting to go to Yountville VA Home I am injured from Navy special Operations and have a brain injury
I was very excited to go today as I book far in advance I walk into the lobby and gio the desk clerk was darling said ask for my credit card to hold it I said sure and handed it to hear then she said we need a deposit I was embarrassed cause being on a fixed income I didn’t have enough so she talked to her Manager and it was said that if I didn’t have the money for a deposit I would be forced to leave the property I stated that my contract did not express that either did my confirmation e mail so I walk back to my house I live in Calistoga as I was walking I was almost in tears see I also played golf as a professional and haven’t booked a room and paid for it for many many years
So as I walk home I talk to god and say well at least I got up this morning and I could feed myself my children are going to be safe and have present and knowing that I won’t get my money back for the room is ok
I got a phone call from the manager when I got home when she says to me me “ sir what is your problem? “ are you telling me you book a hotel room and your poor and you say your retirement from the military isn’t enough for you to cover cost for basics she laughed and said “ have you ever stayed in a hotel ? “ at that point I said in a military dad voice young lady I served two tours of war she hung up
