"Nepenthe is a gem. You need to grab this stay for as long as it stays a gem, the owners are getting older and are actively trying to sell. Make this trip, you will not regret it. Stay for the week, there is plenty to do around Arenal, do not spend hours driving that you could spend listening to the howler monkeys, watching the toucans every morning, or enjoying the oropendola living their day. "Fantastic hosts who were incredibly helpful for suggestions in the area and even helped me troubleshoot some conflicting information between a ticket I had booked and the hours a national park said it was open! "Our stay at Finca Aquarius was exceptional. The property is situated in a beautiful valley that is very peaceful and quiet, yet you are 20-30 minutes away from activities in Monteverde/Santa Elena. The rooms are beautifully designed, clean, spacious and have a fantastic view. Jan was an incredible host and amazing cook. We felt very fortunate to spend our last days in Costa Rica here. Highly recommend!"

"This was one of the most beautiful settings with the view of Arenal volcano from the pool area and even (we got lucky) from our hotel room. The hotel room was in a separate building with only two rooms in the building, this added a lot of privacy too. I loved the swim up bar at the main pool with multiple smaller spas. It was one of the best memories for all of us in my family. "

"This was the 2nd time we have stayed there. We returned because of the amazing experience the 1st time last year and we got the same amazing stay this year. I think they are always cleaning and taking care of the property, so rooms and hotel look amazing. The entire staff are friendly, welcoming, talkative and go out of their way to to ensure a good trip. They learn your name, even when only staying a few days. I would definitely recommend staying there. "

"Absolutely beautiful property. We stood in the Smithsonian room. Absolutely gorgeous view of the volcano. Room as described. Our only regret was not reserving a room with mini fridge. No AC as described but it was not needed. Everyone was absolutely attentive and always ready to answer questions. We ate most of our meals in the restaurant preferring to stay nearby to relax. Yes the road is rough for the first mile entering the property but well worth the ride! We didn’t want to leave! We hope to return to spend more than the 3 nights we booked. "

"This property was a dream. We loved the beautiful view, the rooms were clean, large outdoor patios with 2 chairs, the staff was polite and accommodating. It’s about a 25 minute drive to downtown Fortuna so close enough to visit during the day, but far enough that you aren’t in the middle of the hustle and bustle. Everything was just wonderful "
