"Overall, our stay was good, but unfortunately our final night really put a damper on the experience.
The night before checkout, we noticed water flowing from the ceiling through the light fixture directly above our soaking tub. The lights were also flickering, which was especially concerning given the combination of water and electricity. We had to call maintenance, and the situation kept us awake until around 3:00 a.m.
We were given the option of moving rooms in the middle of the night, which would have been extremely inconvenient, or staying in the room and keeping the light off until the issue could be addressed in the morning. We chose to stay rather than pack everything up and relocate at that hour.
The hotel staff did offer us a complimentary breakfast and a couple of extra hours before checkout. While we appreciated the gesture, the breakfast was mediocre at best and didn’t really make up for losing most of our final night’s sleep.
It was especially disappointing because we had to fly home to the West Coast the next day on very little rest. What had otherwise been a good stay ended on a frustrating and exhausting note. Given the seriousness of water coming through an electrical light fixture and the amount of sleep we lost, I feel the situation could have been handled or compensated much better."
