With new rules, restrictions and safety measures to adhere to, travel looks a little different today. Here's what you need to know before you hop on that plane to Central Nicaragua:

• Research if any travel restrictions apply to your origin and destination before booking. Also check if there are any special conditions you'll have to follow on arrival, such as mandatory quarantining.
• Wear a face mask during airport screening. A TSA employee will require you to adjust your mask for ID purposes.
• You're no longer required to hand your boarding pass (electronic or paper) directly to a TSA officer. Instead, you should position the pass on the reader and then hold it up for inspection.
• You're allowed to take one container of hand sanitizer up to 12 oz (350 ml) in your carry-on luggage. You'll have to remove it for X-ray scanning.
• To minimize handling during the screening process, place personal items such as your phone, wallet and keys into your carry-on instead of the bins.
• Transport any food items in a clear plastic bag and also place them in a screening bin. Keeping your food separate from your carry-on makes it less likely that a TSA employee will need to open your bag for inspection.
