This Peruvian national park is located near the city of Huaraz and is home to the world's highest tropical mountain range also known as Cordillera Blanca of the Andes. Please be aware of the altitude since its 3,500 to 6,768m above sea level at the summit of El Huascarán (the highest peak in Peru). Cities near Chacas

You shouldn't do this hike unless you're in good shape or have acclimated to the high altitude, but it's so worth it. I went with a tour company from Huaraz. Getting to Laguna 69, after passing Llanguanuco and meadows and cows and ruins was incredibly rewarding. It's a beautiful place - don't miss it!
