"Poor communication to enter the property, had to wait outside for 10 minutes in the night. The owner eventually came to open the door, but calls and text were not answered. The owner was very nice and once inside was responsive to texts. The room was very pretty as well. "

"This hotel is simply beautiful. The staff makes you feel like royalty. The view is beautiful but not accessible or visible from the inside. I wish they build an observation deck in the future. Great conservation of the building. Neat clean all around. Great gourmet food. The best was breakfast. I missed a hair dryer, but a small detail for such a wonderful experience."

"Beautiful grounds and gardens. View from restaurant is stunning. Private parking was so helpful and provided peace of mind. Included breakfast is excellent! Rooms are adequate, but small. Beds were ok. Conveniently located to lake side park on one side and shops on the other. Restaurant food and service is very good! One of our favorite places on Lake Atitlan"

"The views were great but so are other properties that share that lake , I have to say the food there lacked rich seasoning and flavor , the dinner wasn’t great , before writing this review I waited to give breakfast a try and again was disappointed. So as far as the food they really need to improve. The hotel overall was clean good staff . But I believe this hotel is overhyped for what you end up experiencing."

"Property is beautiful, the cabins and view are stunning the only downfall is the shared bathrooms but they do say it on their description so we took the risk. It’s a must place. If you see it take it you won’t regret it"

"This was the worst hotel stay I have ever experienced. The rooms are NOT what are pictured here. When we arrived we were told our room was down the street. We were walked there by a hotel staff who showed us a door off the busy street, and down a dark and dirty flight of steps. The view is incredible, but it stops there. The room was dirty - the kitchen was beyond filthy with food splashed on the walls, an unlevel refrigerator, and a water container that looked unkept and unsafe. There...

"A great place to stay. It is close by the lake, it has a pool and parking included. I also enjoyed the included breakfast they provided. There are Guatemalan and American dishes. Overall, a nice option to stay in."

"I spent one week at Amankaya and had a great time! Fernando is an amazing host that always goes above and beyond to make sure you have everything you need. The location is a bit secluded from everything but theres a boat that can pass by the lakehouse 3x a day which makes accessing all of the other villages very easy. There is complimentary water and kayaks available. The kitchen is very big and very well stocked. Theres also a lovely dog and 2 cats to keep you company. I'd recommend Amankaya to...

"The hotel was undergoing construction during my stay. This was obviously undisclosed and taking place right above my head, starting in the very early hours of the morning. Every time we tried to talk to someone about it to see if they could move us to a new room where it wasn't above our heads, they would say that that day was the last day construction was happening. This wasn't true. The showers are also dodgy with wires showing. The hot water didn't work for half of our stay. They did try to...
