"Lovely relaxing decor in bedroom, very clean and nice towels. Restaurant was a bit basic and felt a little grubby, Standard food like a Wetherspoons but at very inflated prices with no option to visit anywhere else locally. Staff friendly and professional. Would stay again, but maybe eat before we arrived in the evening!"

"A great location if you're spending time in Colchester town center, visiting the castle and sampling the many wonderful pubs and restaurants in the area. The rooms were nice and roomy. They did tell us ahead of time that the room was on two floors (bed upstairs and lounge/study downstairs), a nice layout although a bit of a trip hazard if you need to use the bathroom in the middle of the night and don't want to wake your partner. The staff were friendly and attentive."

"Beautiful room overlooking countryside, spotlessly clean. Friendly staff, lovely outside spaces to sit and relax. Vegetarian breakfast was great. Everything was perfect"

"This hotel has a great location just outside Colchester in the University Campus. Lovely staff - very friendly and helpful. Very good breakfast, but limited dinner options for the vegetarian /vegans. Our room in the old part of the hotel was nicely decorated but had an odd layout and an uncomfortable bed. I was told the new wing of the hotel is better. Notwithstanding that, it was a good stay and great value for money."
