"The room was not serviced on two days out of four - the reason given was that the housekeeper did not work those days. The restaurant was closed for evening meals at short notice. The entrance door was closed and locked early in the evening and my keys did not work on occasions."

"Friendly staff but a bit slapdash at breakfast, rooms comfortable but south facing rooms need a portable aircon unit when warmer outside as the room was stiflingly hot despite window open and fan on. Excellent food which we could not fault for two nights dinner."

"The room had a great view, was small but comfortable, and the bathroom had been updated. Evening meal, breakfast staff were friendly and polite. The car park had limited spaces. As other guests have mentioned, the stairs to the rooms are steep and numerous"

"We stayed for 1 night in June. We were originally allocated a room on the ground floor near the bar area, which under normal circumstances would have been fine, the room itself was very nice. However, we have a child undergoing cancer treatment and she would not have settled. Paul, who I believe to be the owner manager, was very accommodating and went to great lengths to ensure we could have a lovely stay at this hotel. He arranged for a single bed to be put in one of the double rooms upstairs,...

"We felt right at home from the moment we met Freda outside her lovely B&B. Our room was clean and cool, bathroom was very nice as well. Big TV and coffee & Tea on our table. The house itself is very charming and historic. The next day we were greeted by a hearty and delicious homemade breakfast by Freda, we even got to meet Gypsy! Her sweet doggie. We loved our short time in Dumfries, I hope we make our way back there again. We will definitely be staying at the Huntigdon once more"
