The Chain Bridge is one of Budapest's well known landmarks. At the time of its construction, it was regarded as one of the modern world's engineering wonders. Best photos of the bridge can be taken from the buda hill, with the parliament building on the background.

Old Budapest is magical at twilight. This is an image of the Chain Bridge from the east bank (south of the Bridge) with Buda Castle on the hill overlooking the City in the left background. If you go to Budapest, sit on the bank of the River Danube at twilight and enjoy the view. A wonderful place for lovers! It was founded as the Ethnographic Department of the Hungarian National Museum in 1872. Its first director was John Xantus de Vesey. It formally split from the National Museum in 1947 but moved to its building in Kossuth Square, opposite the Parliament building, only in 1973. The grand building in which the Museum of Ethnography is now housed was originally built by Alajos Hauszmann for the Ministry of Justice.
