"For the price we paid compared other options, we couldn't have been happier. We will definitely be staying here again and would highly recommend this place to others as well."
"Our experience at the Gard Public House was one of the worst I've had. Shortly after midnight a smoke alarm in the hall outside our door started chirping (the low battery noise). I went out in the hall and noted the tall, dark ceiling--I couldn't tell where the alarm was, much less access it. And there's no staff on hand after the restaurant closes. We spent a sleepless night on the first day of our roadtrip--not a great start.
I texted the owner in the morning to suggest she send someone to change the battery and tell her there was no sleeping through that noise. Her reply was, "Sorry about that!" I let her know the reply was disappointing and heard nothing back. I was hoping she would offer some kind of consideration (another time we had difficulties with Internet stability at a B&B, the owner offered to buy us breakfast the next day). Not that it would have changed anything, but it would have told us she cared about our experience.
You know, that smoke alarm thing is completely preventable. Just mark your calendar and change the battery every 6 months.
Another feature of the property we found off-putting is the blast of kitchen exhaust you get when headed up the stairs to the rooms. We don't mind stairs at all, but there was no avoiding the hot, yucky air and sticky stair rail. Unappealing."
"Pros-very comfortable bed and spacious room.
Cons-initially told breakfast was not included (showed proof it was on my reservation). Otherwise the buffet would have been $14.02 with tax. Absolutely not worth that much. Very standard hot breakfast usually offered free.
Only flimsy plastic cups in the room. Tiny gym.
Overall a fine stay."
"I liked it because it was close to a family reunion I was going to…but accidentally booked the wrong day…(my date was a day off)….they said they could not change it..so had to rebook with the hotel….paid twice for the room. Front desk person called her manager…said no…but then manager called back trying to resolve it…front desk person said never mind, she is just going to rebook! Very frustrating! I paid double for just a regular room. I mean the hotel was very nice and the breakfast was great too….but just not happy about it. Front desk said I should have booked directly and I wouldn’t have had the problem."
"When I arrived at the property, the staff member was helpful. He accommodated me to a room that was clean, and with an easy access for my small dog to the back yard. The bathroom was a bit small and the toilet was low. It was hard to sit on it without losing my balance. The flush looks like it's about to overflow. The fridge under the sink looks like an in-house safe."
