Top Isle of Wight Hotel Reviews

One Holyrood Hotel
10/10 Excellent
"Room was much bigger than expected (possibly an upgrade) and seemed to have been recently renovated. Spotlessly clean and comfortable bed. Breakfast was included although my invoice stated room only. Apparently all rooms here include breakfast which was very good. Highlight really was the friendliness of staff which is probably because it’s an independent property and they genuinely want to make guests feel welcome. "

Dorset Hotel
8/10 Good
"Enjoyed our two night stay, happy helpful staff "

Albert Cottage Hotel
6/10 Okay
"Unfortunately the room requested was not available as we had our small dog with us so were allocated a dog friendly room which was fine but it only had a 4’6 bed which really is not expected these days.
Following the downgrading of the room by the hotel and being advised that the room requested would be cheaper. The new price unfortunately was not honoured despite numerous requests for a refund so overall not the best experience."

Fountain Hotel Isle of Wight by Greene King Inns

The Wight Mouse Inn

The Bay Colwell
10/10 Excellent
"Just what we needed. A bath would have been nice."

Albion Hotel
8/10 Good
"Room:
😃 excellent cleanliness, dramatic scenic view, well designed and kept, bigger size than usual (specially the bathroom), unique features - The double shower…wonderful - the noise of the sea from inside the room…very relaxing.
😐 no toothbrush and paste provided, which based on my experience, typically hotels do. Although the noise of the sea from inside the room (door closed) can be relaxing, it can also give you trouble to sleep if you are noise sensitive - note when we have been there was windy and sea wavy.
Location:
😃 Amazingly positioned at the west end of the beach, along the west costal path which lead you to Alum bay to west and Compton bay to est, ideal for hiking lovers.
Facilities:
😃 big car park with barred entrance and exit, amazing view from the restaurants, good breakfast provided, service at the tables outside on the terrace restaurant.
😐 music in the restaurant at breakfast time, can not seat inside if you are very noise sensitive, bottled water is not included and very expensive.
Amenities:
😃 library!
😐google shows there is a Spa, with indoor swimming pool, but THERE IS NOT! - it was the previous hotel being there that had it.

The Royal Hotel

The Ocean View Hotel
2/10 Terrible
"We recently stayed at The Ocean View Hotel from 13th–15th February and unfortunately were very disappointed with our experience.
We chose this hotel specifically because of the facilities advertised on the website, including a swimming pool, bar, coffee shop, evening dining, jazz club with cocktail bar, and the daily “Happy Hour” promotion. These amenities were a major factor in booking what we hoped would be a relaxing weekend break.
However, on arrival—and throughout our stay—we discovered that the swimming pool, bar, coffee shop, and evening dining were all closed. There had been no prior notice of these closures on the website or in our booking confirmation email. To make matters more frustrating, there were posters displayed around the hotel advertising “Happy Hour” from 4–6pm daily, despite the bar not being open.
Breakfast was also an additional charge, and while convenient, we found that far better quality and more reasonably priced breakfast options were available just a short walk away in the town centre.
The lack of communication felt misleading, as the facilities advertised were simply not available. Had we known in advance, we would likely have chosen alternative accommodation.
While the stay itself may suit guests who only require a room, (if you don’t mind a bed without a headboard), we feel the hotel should be transparent about which amenities are operational. Clear and accurate information would help manage expectations and avoid disappointment.
