"The room was very clean and spacious; It was useful having a w/d in the room; the staff were all very helpful, especially Patricia in the dining room, Amos - Manager, and Thomas was our helpful concierge. They were the dream team for me. Breakfast was great everyday and they offered dinner as well, including room service. Having free transportation to and from local areas was an unexpected bonus. Overall, it was a pleasant stay and I’d recommend it for your next trip to Jo’Burg."

"This hotel was the perfect location for a short stay for International visitors looking for a very safe area and within meters of a shopping complex containing dozens of restaurants, bars and fashion outlets. We chose it for its close availability to the Hop On Hop Off bus- the stop being right outside the hotel, The room was large and spotlessly clean, the shower was hot, the linens were new and I loved the iron and ironing board in the room. My only complaint was that my key card failed to open the door twice in 2 days and it took ages for the receptionist to redo it."

"This is the finest hotel I have ever stayed at. The Presidential Suite was extremely reasonable in price compared to a comparable hotel in the US. The staff is absolutely fantastic. The Nova Bistro restaurant in the hotel serves fantastic food and huge portions at a reasonable price. The cocktail prices are extremely fair. I highly recommend The Houghton Hotel for your next stay in Johannesburg."

"We needed a hotel quickly when we flew into Johannesburg because our plans fell through. We were able to book easily, check in easily and had a pleasant night’s sleep after a long journey from the states. The staff was gracious and accommodating. The buffet breakfast was delicious. I highly recommend this hotel!"

"A beautiful hotel in a safe area attached to a great shopping mall. We enjoyed walking around Nelson Mandela square and reading the history. Breakfast was average but after 6 weeks of eating we didn’t care,we’d had enough food and it was only for one night. We would definitely stay here again."
