"The James river hotel formally the King James is almost historical in Newport News. The hotel has been through VERY ROUGH times of people it's time in business. Overall it has truly stood the TEST OF TIME. The age of the rooms would be a five on my scale. However other than that I will stay again as I have done for over 40 years. God bless "

"It was a nice hotel. Staff was excellent. Did not like the $50 refendable charge added at check in for breakfast. Never had that experience before. Hotel was noisy from rude people and highway noise. Hotel needs an update, but good place to stay."

"The stay was good. JAMEL at the front desk was attentive to our needs, and exercised a strong commitment to meeting and satisfing customers needs. THANK you Jamel! Overall the property is nice, easy- fast - access to Busch Gardens (about 10 miles) -appearing to be partially complete in a apparant rennovation upgrade, with options like the game room currently to be filled, and no pool yet available. Summary - good for a clean no thrills value stay, with potential. Thank You! "

"Customer service was outstanding, all employees were helpful and friendly. There was a very nice continental breakfast included. Unfortunately the waffle makers were not working but all the other food was tasty and warm except for the sausage patties. The room was clean and the shower had great pressure with plenty of hot water. It was handy have a good sized refrigerator. "

"We needed a place to stay last minute and we were able to get in here. So glad we did "

"This is our first time at this resort hotel and so happy we chose to stay here. My husband and I loved the bed and the pillows. The room is very clean, spacious and has nice high ceiling. It is close to Busch Gardens which is just 20 minutes away and half a hour to the beach. We rate this10/10 and we will definitely stay here again. "

"The was food crumbs on the floor from the last person that staid in the room. The bathroom floor was dirty to where my feet stuck to it. The room smelled but I can’t figure out what the smell was. The wall outside the room had wallpaper coming off bc of the black mold. The staff wasn’t rude but not welcoming either. I won’t be staying again. "
