"Large resort located away from the busy part of the town. A little outdated. We stayed on the ground floor near the entrance to the restaurant & elevator, high traffic and noisy. I recommend not choosing the rooms on the ground level. Friendly staff and helpful arranging transportation and siteseeing tours. Decent breakfast selection and restaurant choices."

"Overall okay. Only thing is the master bedroom aircon which takes awhile to fix. Owner very responsive and provided welcome drinks when arrived. The area is good and quite close to shops. Good to have a car though."

"Everything was 10 out of 10 breakfast was excellent. The only thing I don’t like is the bar by the pool it’s not necessary. There was a bar on the rooftop."

"Very nice room. Excellent breakfast one of the best we've ever had in a hotel"

"Excellent stay. Rooms were lovely and food very good"

"Wonderful property. Only spent one night in transit. Wish I had more time. It’s a lovely property."

"We stayed in the 2 bedroom cabin for 3 nights. First night, rats were running around between the bathrooms and bedrooms so we called the front desk and they sent 2 maintenance guys and they laid multiple mouse traps. Over the next 2 night, every night we caught one (large size rat) and the whole cabin stinks with rat urine. I understand this is a wood cabin and we are staying on a Island with expected wildlife. But unfortuately my wife and daughter could not tolerate it. The daily room...

"We had an amazing time at Gaya Island Resort. It is a luxury resort with great food and drinks, comfortable rooms, and incredible views/proximity to the ocean. Worth noting is that this is in a nature reserve, surrounded by jungle and ocean, and the resort embraces and supports this, which means coexisting with wildlife. You can walk out from the resort beach to their own protected reef and swim with dozens of species of beautiful fish (equipment is available for free). We didn’t see any snakes,...

"Perfect place to stay pre and post our visit to the eco lodge for wildlife viewing. Comforable room, good food, friendly staff. Loved the location was walkable to town, but far enough out that it was really quiet."

"Great polite staff, very helpful, very happy. Nexus is a beautiful, picturesque escape from the normal hustle and bustle of everyday life. We would definitely book this place again. Just be sure to pack the insect repellent as you would going to any beach."

"The complimentary airport shuttle (one-way only) was very useful along with the breakfast buffet. Definitely worth staying if you do not want to go island hopping or to the city centre"

"we stayed here for one night, before visiting the orang utan the next morning. location is next to the orang utan plc and that's it.nothing else in the neighbourhood, unless u drive 30-45 mins to sandakan city. the only restaurant in the property close at 9pm so after you are basically trapped in the room. its not safe to even walk in the property at night, its dark and we are in the jungle. the property needsTLC maintenance, its run down. the pool close at 5pm but i will not use the pool,its...
