"We were so looking forward to this part of our trip...maybe our expectations were set too high after Tenaya@Yosemite. The lobby is gorgeous and smells like paradise. Staff was very kind, however, they needed to be bc there were hiccups along the way. I don't mind spending extra on vacation, but I want to spend extra for something special. "Picturesque hotel situated very near the beach, great local dining options and a short distance to nearby Santa Barbara. The hotel itself was gorgeous, the room was clean, the courtyard view was fabulous. The few negatives of note: first floor courtyard facing rooms have no enclosed patio, so anyone can walk up to your sliding door. The beds were not very comfortable, but that’s subjective. "I stayed at Motel 6 for a week. Overall, the place looks clean at first glance, but it doesn’t feel thoroughly cleaned.The bedding appeared clean on the surface, but I did notice some hair on the sheets, which made it uncomfortable to sleep. The staff was generally very nice and helpful. Whenever I needed assistance, they were polite and reprogrammed my room keys when they stopped working. However, the key cards kept getting deactivated, even after I was careful with them, which was inconvenient...

"The staff was friendly. The room was pretty gross. It’s okay to be old but to have a huge booger on the wall by phone, a nasty smudge on the dirty mirror, stinky, stained carpet, lots of dead bugs in the bathroom light, mold in the grout in the bathroom and sticky mats on the tub floor covering up a hole in the tub is a different story. I did spray down the bath/shower with bleach water before use. One could fail a drug test just walking outside the door of the unit as the next door neighbors...
