Jean-Phillipe had some local wines available to sample and also has a BBQ that can be used and a games room. The swimming pool was very clean and everything very well maintained. "Hotel is situated a little tucked away from the main area, but it’s a small town and easy to get around. We were not able to check in before 3pm, and were asked to ring the buzzer every time to be let in. It was a little confusing, but we managed. The room was spacious, beautifully decorated, and the bathroom was luxurious. We enjoyed our stay, but we also barely spent any time in it as there is so much to do around Saumur. Everything is within walking distance, even the train station (although a little farther, it’s still walkable)."

The building is nice, solidly constructed with spacious rooms and high ceilings. The room needs some updating in terms of decor and there are little touches that show a lack of very careful attention to maintenance (curtains that aren’t attached completely at the top of the window, dead mosquitoes on the sheer curtains). A little more careful attention to these details would go a long way to improving the first impression. That said, the room was spacious (a corner room -05) and the bed was very comfortable. The staff were welcoming and pleasant. All in all, I recommend this hotel and would stay again on another visit to the Saumur area."
