"A lovely hotel and spa. Nice swimming pool, sauna and gym. Good breakfast. Nice friendly staff. Excellent location. My only disappointment was the room was a bit tired and only 2 sockets which were on the opposite wall to the bed. Also the kettle had to sit on the floor because the cable wasn’t long enough to have on the table. Also would have been nice to have some decaf teabags. Small problems really but just observations."
"I have stayed at this hotel over 5 times under 2 different owners.
The spa is always impressive however Champneys now charge extra for residents’ access per day. This results in a stampede at 3pm for guests wanting to (rightly) get their money’s worth. It really detracts from the ability to relax.
The spa bar area could do with a little TLC: walls marked; carpets covered in crumbs; cobwebs on the ceiling alcoves; plastic champagne flutes!!!
The bed was comfortable and the bedroom spacious....
"Absolutely fantastic property. Messaging the owner was simple, with quick responses. Great neighborhood. Easy 5 minute walk (downhill) to shops, pubs and restaurants. A little longer (and more work) back up the hill. Extremely clean, well appointed and comfortable. Easy to get to local estates and attractions. If renting a car, get the smallest you can as the streets in and around Bakewell are very narrow. Would rent again!"
