What are some of the general tips for travellers to East Coast Tasmania during the COVID-19 outbreak?
In the face of COVID-19, travelling now comes with more challenges than in the past. Take note of these useful tips before hopping on your plane to East Coast Tasmania:
  • Before you lock in a flight, see if any travel bans or restrictions apply — in both your origin and destination. Keep informed with the latest updates by checking government and airport websites.
  • You're required to wear a face mask at the airport, including at screening checkpoints. Be ready to adjust your mask for ID verification when asked by a TSA officer.
  • Instead of handing a TSA officer your boarding pass, position it straight on the scanner yourself. After that, hold it up for inspection.
  • TSA now allows passengers to take one container of hand sanitizer, up to 12 oz (350 ml) in size, in carry-on baggage. This will have to be removed from your bag to be screened.
  • To reduce handling during screening, place personal items such as your phone, wallet and keys into your carry-on instead of the bins.
  • Separate any food you have for X-ray scanning. Food items often set off the alarm. Placing them in a clear plastic bag and into a bin reduces the need for a TSA officer to handle and inspect your belongings.
