Somethings doesn't add up. The rating and pictures don't match the experience. First of all, this is not a traditional aparthotel where you check in and stay in that building. Staycity Edinburgh seems to have purchased residential apartments all surrounding the check in office. You may end up having to walk around the corner to your "block". Signage indicates residents may also be living in the same blocks that you are staying.
The first room we were provided was facing the main road (western approach road). We had to seek to be moved and could only accept a different room with a double bed (on a king size booking). The room feels dated and after seeing the two rooms, the amenities are mixed.
The rooms were uncomfortably warm, even after turning off the heating. Leave the window ajar, and neighbouring units chose to smoke and make calls outside our window between 10-1130 pm.
The bed is overly firm and the pillows are thin and flat.
The only positive was having a washing machine, although no detergent was provided.
The location is listed as West End, however this is not in the true west end area north of Haymarket. The bus service to this area is ok.
This pretend hotel claims to offer luggage storage. This is a half truth as you are required to pay £5 per day to use a locker through a third party.
My advice: avoid this hotel if you value sleep, comfort, and the bare minimum.
