The Lafayette A grand Riverboat Era Hotel

10/10 Excellent

"We had a fantastic stay. Marietta is a great town, and the Lafayette is very much a historic hotel. The common areas are rich with historical context and artifacts, and the two restaurants serve different purposes. The nearby area has an abundance of things to enjoy, day and night. As a historic building, this beauty and texture also come with some compromises. While the front façade, lobby, and restaurant areas are grand and elegant, the floor in our fifth-floor room had a very unavoidable slope to it. The elevator is only big enough for two people comfortably, maybe four if they squeeze in. The staircase, while safe, has some quirks in its layout, door swings, and railings that reflect a different era of construction. I appreciate historic buildings. They were built in a different time, and sometimes they can't be adapted to modern expectations and accessibility requirements. I was OK with the quirks. The building is very well maintained. That said, a guest with mobility or accessibility issues might want to call ahead and have some candid, fact-checking conversations before booking. These details may be charming inconveniences to some guests but genuine obstacles to others. We loved the hotel and the area. The Lafayette has a character that a modern hotel simply can't replicate, and its location makes it an excellent place to experience Marietta. We'd happily stay again, quirks and all."

Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Marietta

8/10 Good

"When we checked in , there wasn’t anyone at the desk . I stood there almost 5 minutes before the man that was working even noticed me . Then he just hands me my key card and tells me to have a good night . Most hotels tell you about what time breakfast is , what time check out is , also tell you what the WiFi is . A lot of them will even tell you how to get to your room . Not this guy . Anyways the room was nice , clean , and , spacious . The walls are pretty thin . Beds were comfortable, but the pillows were not . They were small and hard . Over all , nice hotel , decent price , nice location ! Wish the staff was a little nicer ."
