Staff lovely, 10/10! Room clean, basic, only niggle was the double bed was a bit uncomfy but maybe our preference, the pull out sofa bed was a bed of springs but can’t expect much else! Knew what we were getting. Breakfast was good. Really good option! Would consider coming back! Can’t complain when the price was so low! Service is everything.. so big well done for having such great staff!

Such a lovely pub and the room was great. Clean and very modern for a pub hotel. Shower was lovely. Bed very comfy. I ate at the pub twice in my stay, both times were delicious. Thank you!

Hotel/country pub was charming- we ate dinner there but it was quite average. We had luggage but there was no elevator so we got some help to bring our things upstairs. Only stayed overnight but it was nice

My favourite room for a very long time and I stay away every week. Large room with separate lounge area. Roll top bath. I didn’t want to leave!

A good clean room with excellent beds and bedding. Spacious wet room. Furniture looked dated and a bit tired. Breakfast was ok, but overcooked, particularly the bacon which was rather leather-like. Couldn't get a second coffee because no staff were around. Other staff were excellent.

We stayed at a local hotel but needed another 3 nights, which wasn’t available, so we tried The Princess Royal and wished we’d stopped here for the whole time as it’s far superior, a nice and friendly pub/hotel, with great food😃😃

The room was spacious and very comfortable, and I enjoyed the hot chocolate and shortbread provided. The bottled water was also welcome, and the shower and bathroom was excellent. The breakfast was quite nice, although I ordered poached eggs with my full english and they were like bullets. I asked if I could have a fried egg, as my poached ones were hard, and the young man I asked forgot. I waited over 10 minutes and the fried egg never arrived. I asked one of the other staff, and they scurried away to get it for me. I'd already finished my breakfast when they brought the fried egg. The same young man brought it, and I jokingly said "did you forget me"? He said "I might have"! No apology. It's the little things that make a difference in a four star, and this establishment should be training their staff rather than leaving them to it. Sad.
