Fenway Park

Fenway Park showing outdoor art and a statue or sculpture
Catch a game or take a tour at one of America’s most historic and beloved ballparks.

There’s no better way to experience Boston at play than to grab a ticket to a baseball game at Fenway Park. Home of the Boston Red Sox, Fenway Park is among the oldest and most beloved ballparks in the country.

Approach the ballpark’s gates and feel the sense of history and team pride. The red brickwork of the stands, statues of past baseball greats, historic murals and vintage signage make Fenway Park feel almost like a museum.

The electric atmosphere is infectious as the pre-game excitement mounts and the traditional baseball organ music heralds in the new game. Grab a traditional meal: a hot dog and a jumbo cup of beer. If you don’t understand the rules, lean over and ask a local. Bostonians are usually happy to share their passion for “the show.”

With a 37,000-person capacity, Fenway Park is much smaller and intimate than most modern stadiums. Buy your tickets online or by phone well in advance to see the Red Sox play. Every home game since 2003 has completely sold out.

Fenway Park hosted its first game in 1912, when Boston beat the New York Highlanders, known today as the New York Yankees. It’s the oldest Major League Baseball stadium currently in use. The park has undergone numerous additions and renovations over the years. As a result, the stadium has a few quirks, such as the Green Monster, a 37-foot (11-metre) high left field wall painted bright green.

A great way to experience Fenway Park is on a guided tour. Sign on for a one-hour walking tour to learn the history of the Red Sox and their home field. Or, treat yourself to a Batting Practice Tour, a Sunday Premium Tour, or a Birthday Package Tour. The main public tours are offered daily — before game time during Major League season, of course! (The season runs from April to October.)

Fenway Park is located in central Boston, accessible by subway and bus. Parking can be pricey, however there are free shuttles from some hotels in the area.
