Old southern charm, but with emphasis on the old— our room was as clean as housekeeping could possibly make it, but the carpet had large stains, shower door can’t stay shut, paint on bathroom ceiling and parts of walls cracked and peeling. Tile missing on bathroom floor. Brilliant location right in historic district because hotel is pretty much the historic anchor (former exclusive millionaires club built at end of 19th century). "What a beautiful hotel location right in the beach village of Jekyll Island! Rooms were beautiful and very clean. There was a slight issue with our room temperature as the air condition did not work, but we were only there for one night and did not complain about it. However, we did mention during check out and they did over compensation for the inconvenience. Great staff! Would definitely return."

"Although the room was clean, it was very old and dated. It felt like I was living in the 1970s again. Bathroom in the king room only had a tub and toilet. The sink was in the room. The ac blown straight onto the bed causing me to have a stiff neck. Luggage holders were rusty. Beach access was awful. Huge pile of sand on top of the walkway. I mean around 5 feet or more. "Great ocean view room but room above must have been rented to elephants who stayed up all night stomping around. Shower water pressure was awful and sink did not drain. Garbage was strewn all over in the AM but it was a holiday weekend. Also there is a surprise $30 a night resort fee that was charged separately when checking out that was no included in the Expedia charge. We've stayed here before and had a wonderful time but this room was not wonderful and did not get charged a daily resort...

"This hotel was mediocre at best. The tv was facing the left side of the room and could not be turned toward the bed so you could actually see it. When watching from the bed you could not read subtitles because of the angle of the tv in relation to the bed. You could sit on the sofa and watch. The air conditioner was dreadful. It never got below 70 and the room was stuffy. I finally asked for a box fan and they gave it to me. We paid a lot for the room and would have expected more of a luxury...

"Convenient to everything which was helpful to me w/o a car and a bad knee. Neptune Park, right across the street, was fun to stroll through, watch the sun set or just people watch. Great twisted oaks with hanging moss to admire, climb, or relax under. Welcome Center, a couple blocks up the street, is more like a souvenier shop with maps, local artwork, beachwear, pool/beach reads. Staff is friendly and very helpful. Lots of great restaurants. The breakfast at SSI was simple self-serve....
