Athenaeum Hotel

"It is a GORGEOUS building with so many lovely details, but the price is a bit steep for the quality. The building has not been maintained well, the rooms are dated, but not in a historic way (we were in the "annex") and it felt like it was from the 1970s or 80s, especially the bathroom. The bed was super comfortable and the room was clean, aside from the windows which is my major complaint. We had a lovely lake view, but the windows were COVERED in dead bugs and bird droppings. We had to open the window to see clearly. There are no ameneties in the building aside from a restaurant and bar, so nothing to review there. The said there is a pool in town that is included, but needs to be reserved. Breakfast was fabulous - delicious, fresh pastries (warm), greek yogurt and berries, hard boiled eggs, toast options, fruit, bars, etc. Perfection. It's such a lovely town, we walked around all day and were in awe :) All in all, a nice place, but not as fancy as I expected."

"We stay here 4 or more times a year. Comfortable, clean, very professional staff. Great bartender, everyone was well served. Restaurant was busy, so we enjoyed the bar ordering a delicious dinner. Try the Pork chop. Very tasty. Will be back again."

"Our room was very nice, and the hotel was set back enough from the road that we didn't hear any traffic. We were disappointed to find out that the included breakfast was only a bag with our choice of boiled egg, granola bar, muffin, fruit cup and/or juice. A full breakfast is only served on the weekend, at least in the early fall. We also had the misfortune of being on a floor where a group returned to their rooms at 3:00 a.m. and talked loudly in the hall for quite a while, but that wasn't really the fault of the hotel staff."

"We stay at this location every time we bring our kid to college. It’s become a home away from home. The staff are all always super helpful and so nice. The rooms are great and spacious. Coffee and breakfast downstairs are really good. My only qualm is the walls are on the thinner side so having neighbors who are noisier can be a pain but we live. I have literally zero complaints about the hotel itself."
