Manta dive was a good resort to stay at for diving - the staff were friendly and obviously passionate about their work and the area they work in. They knew their dive sites well and the guided dives were well-organized, friendly, and safe. The rooms were a little dated, and the bed linens could be renewed -rips and such made them feel a little old. The resort is 3-star, but I was surprised that there weren't bedside tables, the mini fridge was empty and the rooms were basic and bare. Likewise the pool was pretty but missing tiles and not very clean most of our stay. The food was very tasty in the restaurant, (although please provide earlier times for coffee in the morning if possible for us early risers) Again though, if you are there to dive, all of these things were irrelevant to a great diving holiday.

Manta is an excellent dive resort. Rooms are comfortable, beds are cozy, staff is very helpful. There are delicious restaurants nearby - Sharkbite and Chillout were favs. There has been some erosion along this side of the beach. Walkout snorkeling is no longer a thing while the reef rebuilds. Snorkeling day and half day trips are available to great spots around the Gili Islands.

Just wonderful!
Everything about Manta Dive Resort is great! Helpful and friendly people, a very good and convenient location. Also, breakfast is really good.

Room was clean, the grounds are well kept, staff was great and helpful! Enjoyed meeting guests. Laundry, tours, bike rentals are next door. Enjoyed a quite sunrise every morning from the Waterfront restaurant, before the staff came to work. Will come back next year!

The room was lovely and it was very peaceful and quiet as we were to the back of the property. Although we didn't dive this trip there was great snorkeling out the front of the hotel. Breaky was very nice and we tried a few options.

Highly recommended
The staff is really nice and helpful. It’s also a diving center which is really cool if you are staying for three days because gives you time to get the diver certificate. The bungalows are very nice and clean. It’s very very very familiar. Really a very choice on the island.

This resort is very clean and has a good restaurant on site. We stayed in the bungalows and loved it. They have A/C and the shower is open air. W REID not use the diving services so can’t comment on those but they certainly were popular.

We really liked the welcome we received. It felt like we were coming home instead of just arriving. Having the dive masters sitting there gave us an opportunity to ask some question and get honest answers about the island.

The staff are super laid back and always there to help. The place has a buzzing atmosphere despite Gili Airs chilled out nature. The breakfast was amazing! Garden rooms are spacious, comfortable and clean. Wake up to the blue sea everyday!

I was excited to stay here, but I’m going to say this mostly because I got so many emails from so many different people it appeared I may have been difficult in arranging payment. But you should be ashamed of the diving experience you gave a friend and I. No smb for our guide? Had to use mine? Overpriced, unfriendly staff aside from the one girl at the desk. The other woman also had no explanation for an extra 100,000 rp charge for each customer which apparently is a “park fee” and rudely had a dive instructor tell us “oh it’s new we forget” Im knowing many instructors around the gilis no one knew anything about this charge. In my opinion your diving operation is a joke and you should be ashamed about not only safety but you attitude for such a hyped up dive shop. Stay in a beautiful room for $60 USD dive elsewhere. All dive staff were absolutely MISERABLE.

Hi Jay, Thank you for your review and interesting feedback regarding your visit to our dive center. We are happy to know that you enjoyed your stay at our bungalows and consider it great value for money! It seems like you were not satisfied with the newly adopted regulation by the Indonesian government to implement a one-time tax of 100.000 IDR for every diver diving in the Gili Matra Marine reserve areas. This fee was adopted in all dive centers in the coast of Lombok and The Gili Islands in April and every reputable dive center and instructor working in the area should be aware of this as it is strongly emphasized as changed regulation. The pricing of fun dives and courses is also defined by a price agreement between the dive centers in Gili Air to guarantee fair business and quality of teaching, so whichever dive center you wish to dive with during your stay, you will find the same pricing. Regarding the use of SMB's, these safety devices are used by every single dive master and instructor teaching with us, as our dive operations are firstly based on safety, above all else. Should our customers wish to use their own safety markers they are more than welcome to do so. In any case, our staff are always carrying one, without exception. When it comes to our "hyped-up" reputation, that can be counted as a compliment, as we have managed to deliver excellent diving experiences for all levels of divers for more than 11 years and are truly proud of our team efforts that it has taken to earn all of our excellent reviews, happy customers and our reputation. We hope that the adoption of the Marine park tax of 100.000 IDR in the Gilis (7 USD) didn't ruin your diving experience too much and hope to welcome you back again for a diving stay in the future! Great location, wonderful clean comfortable air-conditioned rooms, friendly staff. Love the fact they are so eco-friendly refill your water bottle for free etc- only small complaints would be the poor wifi in the rooms - I work as I travel so can't just switch off completely -but we knew that was going to be bad beforehand so made sure we had mobile data and that was fine. The other thing was it would be nice to have tea and coffee making facilities in the room - I guess the electricity supply might not like it though so I understand ...it made me drink more water anyway which is a good thing :)

It is correct that the seasonal rainfall effects the water visibility of the guest swimming pool more than usually and even though we clean them weekly, after a night of rain, it is possible that some leaves had fallen in before our team had time to react to it. We apologize for the problem with the air-con, they do are maintained weekly due to the heavy cooling load the tropical environment is causing for the electronics. Our maintenance team is at the service of our valued guests throughout the day. If you'd like a fridge in your room, we recommend to book one of our Deluxe Rooms that comes with a mini-fridge to cool down your drinks. Good resort with a few bad points
Lovely resort with two really nice swimming pools. The resort was right next to a beach. We stayed there in a low season, so it’s quiet and very peaceful. The room we stayed was a traditional one (sasak) which was beautiful! Bed was very comfy. Loved the open-aired bathroom and shower, but mosquitoes were everywhere! A small fan to keep the air moving to deter mosquitoes might be a great idea in there. WiFi at the resort was not working (apparently due to storm a week ago, but there was WiFi everywhere else on the island). It was not good at all as we planned to do a bit of work when it’s raining or too hot to go out. We had to go to use WiFi in other restaurants/cafes which was not very convenient. But to sum it up, it was a really nice place to stay and we would stay here again.

Hi and thank you for your review. We are continually working to improve our services and appreciate the feed back. In the middle of the rainy season, the mosquitos are a continual challenge. We actually spray an anti-mosquito fog twice monthly, but when it is raining a lot it is less effective. That is one downfall of an outdoor bathroom, is that it is outdoors, where the mosquitos live. We hope that our slow wifi will allow you to relax and enjoy your holiday, as we do not offer it in the rooms, only the public areas. We have a restaurant in the front which it is possible to have WiFi reception. Thank you again for your review and we hope to see yo back again soon.

Highly recommend. The staff were lovely and the property was well maintained. The breakfast options were extensive and food was of a good standard. We also dived with Manta and the trips were well organised. Our only comments would be that the bungalows would benefit from a mosquito net around the bed and better lighting indoors.

We appreciate the feedback as well, although wished you had not waited until you left to alert us to any issues. We would have been happy to assist you and solved any issues you were having with our facilities. I urge any travelers in the future to speak with someone in the front office or management if there are any room issues. Since we suffered an earthquake in August, there are few services not yet functional. One is fresh water from Lombok. We are using our wells for water, and when it is being pumped up into the water towers, there can be a lower water pressure than you are used to in most areas. This usually only lasts a few minutes. Had you mentioned it to us we could have explained why you were experiencing slightly salty water when showering. We also have half of our rooms on a second well that has fresher water and would have happily upgraded you. We hope you will be back again soon to give us a chance to earn those last two stars.

Very nice, comfortable and great location
Great staff, very helpful, the room was lovely. We walked to the other side of the island for sunsets, but sunrise is perfect from this side of the island. Diving was very well organized. The rooms are great, spacious and clean - love the outdoor showers.

Eles estão mais para uma empresa de mergulho que tem quartos do que um hotel que oferece mergulho, apesar de gentis, não davam a minima atenção para nós que só estávamos hospedados. Sempre que precisava de alguma coisa da recepção era sempre uma pessoa diferente que te atendia que geralmente estava sentado conversando ou bebendo em frente ao hotel, confuso. I really liked the concept and design of the hotel. It hs a really cool vibe and the people are also very international and interesting. However the super uncomfortable matress ruined the whole experience. Both my girfriend and I felt super tired and “beaten up” the first morning.

I love the location of Manta Dive, a short walk from the main jetty, if carrying big luggages, just need to engage the horse cart’s service, alternatively if you opt to go Gili Air via Speedboat, askcthe boatman to drop you right infront of the Resort. Check-In : Was easy and give a warm welcome by the Dive Staff. Everyone is friendly. Room : Decent and Clean Room, huge bathroom. Will be better if they can provide hair dryer and water kettle or hotpot in the room. For divers bringing their own gears, unfortunately there’s no open area for you to dry your gears before leaving Gili Air. Breakfast: Loved their Lombok coffee. Breakfast varieties limited, had the same food for 4 days. Will be good if they have more varieties or different menu every other day. Dive Experience: Discount for divers who stay with them. Interesting dive sites. Expect to see white and black tip and plenty of huge turtles.

Waterfont property with resident Dive school.
Basic and comfortable accommodation for those wanting a relaxed stay. The rooms were clean and had all we needed. For those who want to scuba dive, the resident Manta Dive school was reasonably priced and boats pull up to to shoreline for easy access. Dive pool at rear for beginners. The restaurant has a good breakfast in the morning and the food is good. There are a couple of small pools for catching the sun and taking a quick dip. Staff very friendly, responsive and helpful.

Beautiful island with a modern and clean resort
Great resort set on a beautiful island. The breakfast was excellent and the bungalow was very clean and nicely set-up. The AC worked well and relatively quiet to sleep. To improve this lovely place even further replace the mattress next time with a king (instead of two singles leaving an uncomfortable middle part) and install a moscato net.

We arrived at Gili Air not knowing what to expect. The hotel was a 10 minute walk from the dock, we just had backpacks so it was easily walkable for us (if you have luggage you may want to hop in a horse cart. The path all around the island is sand. We found the hotel in a perfect location, there is great snorkelling right in front of the hotel and maybe 5 minutes further down the road you can go snorkelling and see sea turtles. Across from this area there is also a swampy area where we saw a few Komodo dragons. As for the hotel we were pleasantly surprised to see 2 pools that were upkept well and a nice pathway to all the villa style rooms. Each had a nice patio and some privacy. The room was clean and spacious with an air conditioner that worked well. An open air bathroom and comfortable bed made this hotel one of our most recommended. Friendly staff and great free breakfast!

A superb facility
We had a great time at manta dive. From when we first arrived, Rob was really friendly and helpful and the other staff were superb too. You can tell they all work wellas a team. We took a lesson with Finnish Jenni for our first ever scuba diving experience and she was brilliant. Great sense of humour and a good teacher too. We'd love to go back

Great little bungalow but very minimal, no tv or fridge. Wifi was slow, breakfast was nice, air conditioning was great, and they had a water re-fill station! The staff was super friendly and check in was the easiest!

As a dive resort we are very keen to protect the environment, that’s why we provide water refill station to minimize plastic waste on the island. We offer Standard and Deluxe Bungalows here at Manta Dive, maybe another room choice here would have been better for you. If you would have addressed your discomfort regarding the rooms, we could have offered you an upgrade to our Deluxe Bungalows, these Bungalows are a little bit more pricy but come with an exceptional design, aircon, hot water, TV and minifridge. We are sorry we missed the opportunity to communicate this possibility of upgrade for you. Nevertheless it is nice to hear you enjoyed your stay with us and we would be happy to improve the first impression by a second chance.

Great location on Gili Air, among the nice restaurants and some of the best snorkelling. Only issue was the air con - very stuffy room when it wasn't on, but very cold and noisy when it was!

We arrived to a fairly friendly greeting. Local Indonesian staff were friendly and accommodating. Other "managers" or staff were rude and made us feel unwelcome.
