This is clearly not to be confused with a 5 star hotel by any stretch. It was clean enough, the bathroom and shower acceptably clean. It's a roof over your head in a decent bed for the value price you paid. The A/C is wonky, but it works. If you are fussy and picky- maybe stay somewhere else. The location is unbeatable as is the value.

I like that it’s close to the stores and it’s at Downtown area. It’s nice to stay on a hotel that has been around for years.

Manager or someone opened our door with his key, unannounced and unexpectedly, at 6:30 pm and also 1:00 am. Totally unbelievable. They provided us with half a roll of toilet paper, 1 large towel for 2 people, the t.v. got 2 channels (when it wasn't raining) and there was no breakfast provided even though they run a restaurant on the main floor. The front desk receptionist didn't apologize or offer anything to make us happy. She didn't even seem surprised/shocked. We checked out immediately. Should've had our money refunded in my opinion. We will never stay here again.

We were in town to do a 10 K run race, that took place on the Square, which is where this hotel is located. It is good value for one night, and comfy beds. Sure, in some ways it's dated but it's our go- to hotel whenever we are in town. :)

Terrible check-in experience, no one to be found for 10-15 mins, staff in front of me talking without acknowledging me, charged twice for the room, once by expedia and once directly from hotel, called the hotel to resolve and they told me that was not possible, waiting for manager to call back, several dead flys in room, staff knocked on door at 11:15 to hurry us along, check out advertised for 12:00

The place is a bit run down but a beautiful building, staff can be difficult to get ahold of.

Everything was good. Old but but functional. Nice hotel we would say. If we are coming back to this town for sure we will consider this hotel. We have an EV car and there were plenty chargers which was good. Strongly recommend that hotels install a couple as well.

The carpets could be cleaned/shampooed more often or just replaced. As it's a Historical building you would think there would be grants for things like that.

What we liked was that it was cheap and what we didn't like was the musty smell throughout the place. It's a beautiful place but definitely needs an update on the carpet and walls. We found that the person at the front desk was nice but unprofessional because she was eating at the desk and talking to us with her mouth full of food.

Love the location and the price. The stairs, however could use a good cleaning as could the hallways. The room is, however, clean and comfortable and I would stay there again.

It was very pleasant and I would stay there again. I had heard it could get loud with the live music downstairs on Friday nights, but I stayed on a Saturday and there was no noise at all. It is an old building, but it had everything I needed and it all worked. For the price, I was expecting it to be a lot worse than it was. The staff was friendly, it was spacious and quiet, there was lots of free parking right outside, and it is right in the middle of downtown, so you can walk anywhere you need to. I definitely enjoyed my stay at the Hotel Bedford.

An older hotel with fantastic charm. The central wooden staircase adds a warmth to this hotel. It is worn and dated but the room was clean and the bed very comfortable. Staff was friendly.

we loved that its a historic building but its such a lost opportunity in the decoration and styling of the interior and rooms....it has so much potential......we loved that it was close to most everything and central in its location........Goderich is such a beautiful town.....our favourite vacation spot!!

We checked in late and checked out early, but the room, although not spacious, was clean and decent enough for our needs! Definitely a little dated, but perhaps that adds to the charm?

We only stayed 1 night. Hotel was definitely historic but very clean, bed was comfortable and staff were pleasant. Couldn't beat the location. Perfect choice for our 1 night getaway.

Carpeting needs a good cleaning or replacing. The overall accommodations desperately need an overhaul - paint, cupboard doors peeling, chunks out of wall tile, etc.

The place was just terribly outdated with all the carpet, towels, sheets stained. The cleaning staff worked every day and you could tell they were trying their best, but there is just no hope. The place needs a major renovation to look semi-decent. Having 3 floors and no elevators should be mentioned prior to booking. Same with the live music in the pub downstairs playing until 12:30 am. The location of this hotel is convenient to the different places I visited in Goderich. The girl at the front desk was very pleasant and polite. However, the hotel itself needs some major reno! The carpet is more than disgusting. Overall, the hotel is very old. We were put in a room next to a “party room” that’s got a “private” sign on the door. We were kept up most of the night from the loud cheering, laughing and door slamming. I am a light sleeper so I was waken up every few minutes. I tried to phone the front desk to complain but the phone didn’t work. I was very disappointed with my stay there as I got up exhausted and hardly slept the night before. ☹️
