"We appreciated the welcoming staff - often similar sized hotels only have 1 person at check-in but Ayres had 2 and they were efficient. They offered cookies in the evening and a very nice breakfast in the morning. We also took advantage of the weight room and jacuzzi. Finally, despite being close to the freeway, it was very quiet."

While the staff offered me another room, it smelled mildewy as well. The vents in the room had some black substance. I reached out to the manager to complain and he never returned my calls or texts. "When I saw that this place had over 7 stars and was being offered for such a cheap rate I was surprised. I guess you get what you pay for, but this was no 7+ star hotel! The property was in extreme disrepair. The office where we checked in smelled so strongly of nicotine I couldn’t breathe. Fortunately the rooms didn’t smell, but there were a whole lot of other problems with them. The carpets were worn, torn and coming up at the seams. The furniture was literally falling apart, from the drawer...

"Overall a really good experience. Staff was very nice. Rooms are smaller but clean and modern. It had fridge, microwave and coffee maker. Outside looks a little out dated but inside is good. Location is perfect to get around. Overall good price. They had coffee made in the lobby so I went down every morning. I would stay there again."

"I recently stayed here for a mini vacation and was satisfied with the location of the hotel. Being able to walk to Shelter Island and restaurants from the hotel was an important reason for booking here. I'll be sure to return again in the future, but will request a second floor room. The only slight with my stay was being on the first floor, hearing children constantly running or playing in the room upstairs. If you can get a room by the pool, do so because the parking lot is busy at all times...

"I We really liked our stay. The breakfast actually has improved since we last stayed 2 years ago. Free parking is a great perk too. The only things we didn’t like was the bathroom sink area was too small and the TV channel offerings were not good. I didn’t care for the stations. My husband only watched the news a few times and had to use his phone to watch anything else."

"This place was really nice. The only bad thing I can say is that, I was disappointed that out tv wasn’t working. We were looking forward to watch the soccer game in the room but couldn’t. Other than that, everything was perfect."
